J Neo Marvin & the Content Providers  Sacred Grounds Cafe August 2, 2003 The Content Providers played an intimate hour long acoustic set at the Sacred Grounds Cafe, just north of the Panhandle in SF on August 2. Complying with the Sacred Grounds' enshrined doctrine that no amplified instrument be played within the walls of the cafe, only Alan's bass, along with two battery operated keyboards, were the only "Non-acoustic" instruments present. Neo himself even sung without the use of a microphone. Nevertheless, the stripped down sound came off superbly as we were joined once again by stand in percussionists Dave Coan and Jeremy Hanberry from Electric Color Wheel. We ran through eleven songs off of both albums including covers of "Twin Human Highway Flares" by the Mountain Goats and Mark Eitzel's "Proclaim Your Joy". Electric Color Wheel ended the night with a fabulous acoustic set of their own.
